Live-Blog Event: Dog Takes ‘Em Down

dog-bounty-hunter3The Gum is following the thrilling conclusion to the three part mini epic “Rocky Mountain Roundup” episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter as our very first live blogging event. Follow the action here with our own Dog expert Andy Kropa while you watch this exciting hour of television on A&E. Duane “Dog” Chapman, wife Beth and whichever of his 10 children happens to be on hand conclude their chase of runner and “big fish” Marco Padilla after having taken down several cohorts in his suburban Colorado criminal empire. We’re just that Nico Pitney would agree that there are more important things to live-blog about, but hey we never said this was important.

10:00 PM Dog and Beth have put five of the gang in jail and are still after Marco, but the after hearing a summary of the case, the attorney from the bonding insurer wants them to “take a pause.”

Dog explains to the camera “It’s like going fishing for the two and a half foot trout but you instead you catch 14 two footers.”

As Beth explains it, they shook the bone at Dog but then took it away.

It could also have something to do with Dog interfering with major police investigations and Marco going to the local media to proclaim his innocence and complain about Dog harassing his family.

So there is no thrilling payoff. Marco is still at large because a lawyer called off Dog. That’s probably the worst ending of a reality TV show in all history. This is basically on the level of Geraldo Rivera’s revealing Al Capone’s vault, and it wasn’t even live. Reality shows are such a crock. But if you do happen to have a tip on this fugitive, email Tips@DogtheBountyHunter.com

Wish I could get that hour of my life back.

9:54 PM “This fucking house is scary.” You know it Beth, looks like some heroin addicts live here. It’s the house where Marco stays and its got a Big X. Leland is pouring water over the heroin to destroy it, and the crew is rolling out.

Back to Dad’s apartment, where Zorro has cleared out. More drugs in the toilet, it looks like Tony has a bigger part in this mess.

9:47 PM Dog and crew have to make a move on the compound before the bond insurers take him off the case. It looks like they are headed in to a dangerous situation. Looks like its time to “light the area up.” The thrilling showdown is almost here… following a vodka commercial of course.

9:44 PM At least you can always smoke when you ride with Dog. Its a good way to get information, too, letting the perp feel like you are on their side. Carl is sure that Marco is still in Denver and its up to Beth to find out the location.

Carl’s drawing a map, and he lets Dog know Padilla has AK’s on the property. As Dog and crew leave the jail they see prisoners waving out the tiny windows. Showing Dog some love, bra.

The white board shows the proof, Padilla’s organization is going down.

9:39 PM I am officially thrilled to the max! Has there ever been a better episode of Dog? I think not, and I’m definitely someone who would know having seen several Dog marathons over the recent holidays.

Looks like Dog is a little disappointed in sleeping son Duane Lee. I wonder if this tension is going to carry over to next season.

The crew is going after Gomez nonetheless, looks like its a takedown about to go down. And once the table has no legs, the table is gonna fall. Sure enough, Gomez was hiding up in a bedroom of his mother’s house. Beth is showing her sensitive side and talking down Carl’s mother (and getting some information to help the case, of course).

Another piece of the puzzle is in place, can the big fish be far behind?

9:31 PM Another late night working the case, and Duane Lee is not looking forward to waking up early the next day. What’s this? Marco is texting Beth and wants to turn himself in! The heat is getting to him, could this be the end.

The next day, Dog and Beth wake up to a story in the local media, it seems Marco is calling himself a victim of Dog’s bounty hunting and is being treated unfairly by law enforcement after being a reliable drug informant for many years. Too many twists, its starting to make my head spin!

The crew takes off on a hot tip on Padilla’s associate Carl Gomez who is at his mother’s house in Pueblo. Dog is spending a little quality time with his youngest, showing him the proper way to arrest, but once again Duane Lee is having trouble getting out of bed. Could it be he’s staying to catch a game between his favorite football teams. What’s wrong with this kid?

9:25 PM Ok, its Dog time now. Tony and Zorro are back on the hot seat. Will the padre give up his son to protect his daughter? You know that there is no escaping when Dog and Beth are on the case. It looks like Elizabeth’s pleading calls to Marco might do the trick, but for now this is when the waiting game begins.

9:19 PM God! Why all the commercials? Don’t they realize I am on the edge of my damn seat here? Will Dog and family ever catch this pesky runner and bring some love to the community?

9:18 PM Duane Lee and Mary Ellen have Marco’s sister Elizabeth (yes its the third “Beth” in this story) cornered in a Walmart parking lot. With Dog’s trash can evidence implicating Elizabeth, the family is now on the run, and its time, Dog says to “get it done.”

9:15 PM With Zorro and Tony alerted to Dog’s presence, its a dicey situation and no one is home. Mary Ellen and Fred are along to help and they don’t take crap from anyone. This is going to be an exciting hour, I can tell. There’s no one home at Marco’s sister’s house, its time to interview the neighbors. Looks like Beth’s hunch was right and Marco’s been sighted there two days ago. Dog has just spotted an SUV from Marco’s crew and the chase is on. As Duane Lee gives chase with Mary Ellen, Dog and Leland discover 9 mm “cop killer” shells, forged checks and Oxycontinin prescriptions in Elizabeth’s (Marco’s sister) trash can.

9:10 PM The crew is back on the case, heading back to Tony and Zorro’s apartment to shake down Marco’s family and finally get the big fish. And now its time for a commercial break… more to come.

9:00 PM The Story So Far

Dog and family have been in Colorado chasing down suburban drug kingpin Marco Padilla who is out on $75,000 bail as a favor to an young bail bondsman who took on more than he could handle when he took on the family business from his sick father. So far Padilla’s whereabouts are unknown, but Dog has tracked down Padilla’s cousin Zorro and father Tony who lead Dog and Beth to an apartment of ID forgers and bad check writers.

When the young Elizabeth jumps out the window of her druggie apartment before the bounty hunters can arrive, Dog and son Leland spend part of the night checking out a dried up creek in the back of the apartment with flashlights, spraying some mace in the bushes for some good measure. Pursuing a strategy of taking out the bottom of the pyramid in order to pull down the top, Dog lets Elizabeth’s boyfriend leave the apartment and enlists Tony and Zorro’s help in setting up an ambush for him that Dog hopes will also ensnare Elizabeth. The county cops are on hand to help Dog take down Nick Angel, who has a $10,000 bond, but Elizabeth is not on the scene.

Early the next day, however, Tony alerts Dog to the fact he has Elizabeth with him and Dog, Beth, Bobby Brown and Beth’s hipster assistant set out to bring her in without the help of Duane Lee and Leland who are still asleep. The action is intense and Dog and Beth pull up their black SUVs cornering Elizabeth in a convenience mart parking lot. That’s one more link in the chain and one step closer to Padilla for Dog and crew.

Now its up to Beth’s tough love skills to get Elizabeth to spill what she knows about Marco’s whereabouts and set Dog up for the ultimate big fish. Elizabeth’s called in tip from jail sends the crew plus bail-bondswoman dynamo Mary Ellen Pollack to a gated apartment complex. After a short prayer the team is off.
